Joy Kalombo

I am a PGCE-qualified mathematics educator, former Advanced Mathematics Lead and experienced private tutor. I have taught mathematics in schools for seven years and have tutored since 2010. I support learners across KS2, KS3, GCSE, A-level, Further Mathematics, statistics and numerical reasoning.

My online lessons are calm, structured and adapted to the individual learner. I begin by identifying the precise gap, then explain the concept clearly, model worked examples and use targeted questions to check understanding. I help students explain their reasoning, recognise patterns and become increasingly independent.

I have experience supporting learners with different starting points, confidence levels and learning needs. I build strong rapport, create a safe space for questions and break challenging topics into manageable steps. My aim is not simply to help students reach the right answer, but to give them a lasting understanding of the method and the confidence to use it independently.

Alongside school teaching and private tutoring, I currently coach data, digital and technology apprentices remotely. This has strengthened my ability to teach technical ideas clearly, use digital tools effectively and give practical feedback that helps learners progress.
