As a GCSE tutor and current higher education student myself, I believe in the abilities of students to identify their own weaknesses in their studies. Thus I tailor my lessons to both the students' requests and tough topics within the syllabus, rather than blanket coverage of the whole curriculum, which can be redundant. My goal as a tutor is to utilise the privilege of having one to one lessons to fully focus on specific sections of the course students may be struggling with. I accomplish this by guiding students through the content via a range of learning styles, from interactive and conversational lessons through to lecture-style PowerPoints, following each lesson with dedicated time for exam-style questions to familiarise students with the questions they will be asked when GCSE examinations roll around. This exam preparation time will slowly increase leading up to exams and mock exams in order to adequately prepare students. I have accumulated over 2 years of tutoring experience, in which I have helped students from year 8 to 11 prepare for and succeed in their GCSE exams, supporting them to push through barriers to their learning and overcome adversity through education. This includes everything from helping students who have had to resit their exams, to students struggling to cope with changing schools. I am a friendly and accommodating person who aims to create a safe and supportive learning environment for any student to achieve their goals, and I hope to bring my passion for both the sciences and literature into every lesson I teach.
