I am an English Literature tutor specialising at GCSE level with a strong focus on helping students to understand texts clearly, write confidently, and approach exams with complete assurance. My lessons are structured, supportive and always tailored to the individual student's needs. We will go over past exam papers, the student's own writing and example Grade 9 essays. I myself achieved a Grade 9 in English literature and a Grade 7 in English Language, so I can teach what I personally did to achieve these grades.

Each session follows a clear format so students know what they are working towards. We usually begin with a short recap, then focus on one key skill or topic such as analysing language, exploring a theme or character, or improving essay structure. I use short extracts and targeted questions to develop close reading skills, before guiding students through exam-style responses. I will show model answers and demonstrate exactly what examiners are looking for.

I place a huge emphasis on how to think in English Literature, not just key things to memorise. I encourage students to explain their ideas verbally before writing, which builds confidence and clarity. I teach reliable paragrpah structures, how to select precise quotations, and how to analyse individal words effectively - which are all essential factors for GCSE success.

My teaching style is calm, encouraging and clear. I aim to create a space where my students feel comfortable not only to ask and answer questions, but also to be wrong, which is part of the learning process. My goal is to help students feel more in control of their English literature writing, and to get high quality assistance with their writing, which is what i felt like I lacked when I did my English GCSES 3 years ago.
