I have been playing the piano for about 25 years and have 8 years of teaching experience in Singapore and Glasgow. Now that I have just moved to London, I am eager to cater my years of experience to students in London. I am comfortable in teaching both classical, pop piano and music theory. I taught students of ages from 4 to 60 and some with mild autism/in a spectrum. Throughout the years of teaching, I cater lessons that suits every individual - whether fast/slow learners, intensive/leisure learning or anything they have requested (goals etc).

I was part of The Glasgow Piano Teachers, taught in music schools and have my own private teaching at both my students' and my place.

I am flexible in teaching any songs/music - be it film, instrumental or pop.
I do arrange music, composing/writing and improvising as well.
Do let me know if you are interested in learning that too or if you need an accompanist for exams, auditions, performances or competitions.

My main focus is to help my students discover their passion and joy in music making, improving piano technique and developing musical skills. I am flexible in my teaching, and leave it to my students to choose if they would prefer following ABRSM or Trinity Syllabi, or learning just for fun. I usually split my lessons into practical and theory if you would love to learn both at the same time or could be separated to focus individually.

For beginners, I occasionally follow the syllabus of several beginner books such as Alfred’s, A Dozen A Day, and books written by Ying Ying Ng and Lina Ng. However, I often use my own method of beginners to build their finger techniques, postures and the main basic fundamental of piano playing without the use of these books which is proven by my students' progresses.

For slightly more advanced students we could possibly look at developing further technique with my own finger exercises, Hanon and Czerny studies. I also give advanced finger techniques that I’ve created for them to improve on it and it is fun as well.

I have good communication skills and interaction with students having their first piano lesson or throughout all lessons due to my experience in teaching and own personality - approachable and friendly. I believe that having a good connection with students will affect their learning and interest in piano.
