My lessons are structured, engaging, and built around clear learning objectives, with a strong focus on ensuring that all students make progress regardless of their starting point.

My typical lessons include a short retrieval or starter activity to activate prior knowledge and identify any misconceptions early. This is followed by clear, step-by-step explanations of new concepts, often supported by real-life examples to make learning meaningful and relatable, particularly in science.

I use a combination of:

Teacher modelling
Guided practice
Independent tasks

This is to build student confidence and understanding gradually. Questioning is a key part of my teaching, and I use it deliberately to check understanding, stretch more able students, and support those who may need additional help.

In my classroom, I prioritise:

positive behaviour management
clear routines
and a respectful learning environment

so that students feel safe, focused, and ready to learn.

I also incorporate adaptive teaching strategies, ensuring that:

Tasks are accessible for students with SEND
Higher-attaining students are appropriately challenged

Assessment is continuous throughout my lessons. I regularly use:

mini whiteboards
verbal questioning
and quick checks for understanding.
