My lessons are one-to-one, held online, and built around you. Before we begin, I ask what you are studying, which topics you find hardest, and what you want to achieve. I then plan each session around those goals, so we spend our time where it matters most.
Every lesson is interactive. We start with a short recap of the last session and any questions you have brought. I then explain the new topic in plain language, breaking each rule and case into clear steps. I will often ask you to explain an idea back to me, because that is the surest way to know you have understood it.
My teaching is practical and experiential, so you learn the law by using it. We take real-life scenarios and news stories and work out how the law applies to them. You might advise an imaginary client, argue one side of a case against me as in a moot, or act as the judge and decide the outcome. We also work through problem questions, essay plans and past exam papers together.
I regularly teach Contract Law, Tort Law, Criminal Law, Public Law and the Legal System. However, I am not limited to these, and I can teach any other area or branch of law you need. I also teach the skills that examiners reward: structuring an answer, applying the law to the facts, using cases properly and writing clearly. After each piece of work, I give honest, specific feedback and tell you exactly what to do next.
I am a Law Lecturer at The College, Swansea University, where I lecture, run seminars, set and mark assessments, and act as a Personal Tutor. I also spent almost three years leading contract law seminars as a Senior Teaching Assistant, and I tutored school pupils through The Brilliant Club. I hold a PhD in Law, an LLM with Distinction and an LLB, and I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
I am patient and encouraging, and no question is too basic. My aim is for you to finish every lesson understanding more and feeling more confident.
