As a tutor I find that having a lesson plan before the lesson is a great way to increase effciency and effictiveness. I will also ensure that the plan is flexible and fun for the student to make sure that the child is truly learning and being able to achieve their maximum grades rather than just simply going through the content. For mathematics, this will include an explanation of the concepts being taught with example questions that we will work through together. After this, I will give the student a few exercises for them to do on their own and if at any point they get stuck then they can ask for help.
For Spanish the student will start with basic verb structures and being able to know basic words. Then I will develop to include different tenses at different intervals. Between each interval the student will be given vocab sheets for them to memorise and they will be applied in the lessons in reading, writing and speaking. As the student progresses through the lessons I will slowly transition into speaking to them in Spanish until the whole lesson will be taught in Spanish. This will ensure that the student develops proficiency in listening and becomes more immersed in the language. For both subjects, as the student nears assesments in school or in the lessons we will transition into exam style questions and ensuring exam technique is perfected. Finally in both subjects I may set work for the child to do outside of lesson to ensure the child is continously being exposed to the material.
