I am a qualified Biology teacher with 8 years of experience, having taught mostly in a private school setting. I cater for students aged 11 to 18, and while Biology is my specialty, I am able to teach Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as well, with demonstrable experience in teaching each of these subjects.

My lessons are fine-tuned according to each student's individual needs. That means that, in the beginning, I will first take time to get to know the student and come understanding which particular section(s) of the subject the student is struggling with. This will allow me to plan an effective lesson that is specific to that topic and will afford the student the opportunity to overcome that barrier in their learning.

My lessons always start with an introductory phase, typically to introduce the topic of the lesson and to establish any prior knowledge pertaining to the topic. I then lead into the main body of the lesson. This will entail a detailed explanation of the concepts, aided by use of pictures, diagrams and videos to maximize exposure to the content and build a deep level of understanding. My lessons then typically end off with some form of assessment, either a set of questions that I will ask the student to answer verbally, or a worksheet whereby the student will have to write detailed explanations to answer the questions. The purpose of this is for me to assess the student's understanding of the topic and to further reinforce the knowledge gained during the lesson.
