As an educator I think it's important to tailor the way I teach a lesson to each individual student. Everyone is different and everyone learns in a different way. Some students prefer things to be explained rather than shown, and want to understand the logistics of "why things work", for example.

In my studio, we will have access to a PA system, as well as 2 drum kits, and various different practise pads.

I teach anything ranging from how to hold a drum stick, and how to read / play a basic groove, to specialist professional skills such as how to programme backing tracks and the use of live electronics.

I have been taught by many different drum tutors over the years including Dave Neal (Suzi Quatro), Jack Pollit (Mamas Gun), Vinnie Lammi (Spice Girls), Ben Thomas (Rag 'N' Bone Man, Dua Lipa) and I'm currently being mentored by the head of department of drums at BIMM university, Pat Garvey.

I have been tutoring drums for over 5 years now, and playing professionally for even longer, earning vast industry experience from the smallest to largest venues across the UK and Europe.

My passion lies with teaching now more than it does with playing shows all over the continent - there’s nothing I love more than watching a beginner flourish under my guidance, or watching a student come back to a lesson and play a tough song flawlessly after weeks of practise and gradual improvement.

Any ability and any age are all welcome to have lessons with me.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Joe’s a great teacher, having never played before or had a music lesson in years it could’ve been intimidating but he’s been nothing but encouraging and supportive, providing feedback each session for me to take away and look over as well as in the moment. Personally I’ve learnt a lot in a short space of time and that’s down to him being understanding around what I’d like to learn and making sure each session is tailored to that! He’s also been very flexible and accommodating around my schedule and is super easy to reach if I have any questions. If you want a friendly and encouraging teacher with a relaxed atmosphere then Joe’s the person for you!
