Every lesson starts with a quick check-in on what you've been practising, followed by a short warm-up. Then we work on your main goal, whether that's a piece, a song, a technique or part of an exam syllabus. I teach guitar, piano and ukulele to all ages and levels, from complete beginners to returning players. I've taught RSL and ABRSM grades as well as freeform, student-led lessons, so you can follow a structured path or learn the songs you love. I also teach composition and songwriting, and I'm happy to help you turn ideas into finished pieces.
I'm a performing musician with over five years' teaching experience, and I keep lessons patient, practical and relaxed. We agree goals together at the start and review them as you progress. I explain the "why" behind techniques, so you learn how to practise effectively on your own. My BSc (1st) in Sound Technology also helps with online lessons, where clear audio makes a real difference.
Years in Swansea's live music scene, performing, programming artists and designing an educational programme for the BBC Radio 1 Academy, mean I can also help you prepare for performing, from first open mic to exam day.
I run my own practice, Snug Tuition, so lessons are personal and flexible, shaped around you rather than a fixed script.
