Jodie Maxted Maxted

’m a qualified teacher with over seven years of international teaching experience across South Africa, South Korea and Vietnam. I hold a PGCE with Distinction, a Level 3 TEFL qualification and an LLB with Distinction, and I have delivered hundreds of private tutoring lessons both online and in person.

My lessons are relaxed, supportive and highly personalised. I don’t believe in using the same lesson for every student. I take time to understand what you want to achieve, identify any gaps in your knowledge and then plan lessons around your individual needs, interests and learning style. Depending on the subject and your goals, lessons may include discussion, guided practice, interactive activities, targeted exercises, exam questions and feedback.

For English, I work with learners of different ages and levels. I can support you with speaking and conversational confidence, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, writing and comprehension, as well as IELTS preparation. I also have extensive experience teaching children, including phonics and early literacy, and have taught Cambridge Global English in an international school setting.

For Law, I draw on my LLB with Distinction and teaching experience to help students make sense of challenging material. Rather than simply giving you answers, I aim to develop your understanding, critical thinking and ability to construct clear, well-reasoned arguments. I can also support academic writing, revision and exam preparation.

Most importantly, I want my students to enjoy learning. My aim is to create lessons where you feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while gradually becoming more confident, capable and independent.
