I hope to foster an environment in which curiosity is valued and one in which the student feels comfortable asking any questions they wish to. Learning any language is a difficult but rewarding task. A student will only become comfortable in a language when the fear of making mistakes has been overcome and so I aim to ensure students are willing to make mistakes, take constructive criticism and correct their own mistakes in every lesson. I will base lessons off the student's own needs and wants but in general, I will plan to target all areas of language learning; speaking, reading, writing and listening. Students can come to lessons with their own target areas for learning or can work with me in advance to decide on a focus area. I am also always willing to take on board any feedback from students, knowing that every student learns and needs to be taught differently. Tutoring sessions should differ from traditional school lessons in how they should always be student led. The focus in my lessons will always be on what the student wishes to gain from the class. I have a variety of experience working with English language learners as well as a deep understanding of the language itself through my university degree.
