My lessons are structured, supportive and tailored to each student’s needs, with a strong focus on building confidence as well as academic progress.

I specialise in working with students who may find school challenging, including those with gaps in learning, low confidence, or SEMH needs. Lessons are calm, engaging and broken into manageable steps so students feel successful quickly.

A typical lesson includes:
• A short starter to review prior learning
• Clear teaching of a key skill or topic
• Guided practice with support (modelling, sentence starters, worked examples)
• Independent practice to build confidence
• Regular feedback and encouragement throughout

I adapt lessons depending on the student — this might include:
• Discussion-based learning for those who struggle with writing
• Visual aids, exam techniques and scaffolds
• Short, focused tasks to maintain engagement
• Real exam-style questions (GCSE / Functional Skills)

Subjects and approach
• History (KS3 & GCSE): Focus on exam technique, key knowledge and how to structure answers clearly
• English (Functional Skills & GCSE support): Reading skills, comprehension, and building confidence in writing
• Maths (KS2–KS3 & Functional Skills): Clear step-by-step methods, real-life problem solving, and confidence building

My experience
I am a qualified teacher with 8+ years of experience across mainstream and specialist settings. I have worked extensively with students who need a more personalised approach, including those in SEMH and alternative provision settings.

I also recently completed a Master’s degree in Cultural Heritage and Resource Management, and I bring strong subject knowledge alongside practical teaching strategies.

What you can expect
• A patient, encouraging approach
• Lessons adapted to your child’s pace and needs
• Clear progress over time
• Improved confidence as well as grades
