Over the past ten years, I have taught English to asylum seekers, refugees, and immigrants from settled communities, as well as online to teenagers in Cambodia for two years. As a native Korean speaker, my serious journey with spoken English began during a language course in the Philippines in 1993, and I have continued practicing the language ever since. Along the way, I earned the Cambridge CELTA qualification—completed online—where I was trained in communicative language teaching methodology and the effective delivery of lessons using Zoom. Having learned English as a foreign language myself, I have gained valuable first-hand insight into the best ways to acquire the language, which serves as the foundation of my teaching approach, enabling me to deliver effective lessons guided by my CELTA training.
