I use both presentations for an overview of the topic and illustrations to explain difficult concepts or stumbling points, during online learning. I find it helpful for students at BSc and masters level to go through publications to broaden your understanding in preparation for exam questions.
For in person sessions I use presentations and illustrations, with additional flash cards and I encourage you to make your own flash cards and drawings for revision.
I encourage questions and discussion, so we both know how your getting on with the session content. This helps me to know when to explain topics in a different way, if it's difficult to understand, so you get the most out of the session.
Before moving to the pharmaceutical industry I was employed as a biosciences demonstrator for 3.5 years. I took groups of BSc students through complex lab procedures, explaining the content of the session and specific steps, tailoring the explanation to the understanding of the group.
Additionally I have worked with groups and individual MSc and PhD students to teach specific methods and concepts with an aim to plan experiments and become independent researchers
I have experience taking junior school age students into laboratories at my university so understand the curiosity of biology and can tailor the content to a range of ages. I have worked with children as young as 3 in person so I can ascertain if a session is engaged or if I need to change the activity.
