An experienced and dedicated education professional with a passion for functional literacy and enabling learners with SEND to achieve their potential. I qualified as a teacher of English in 2003, before completing a PGC Dyslexia and gaining Accredited Teacher Status with the British Dyslexia Association. I have experience of teaching in various educational contexts, from mainstream secondary schools and FE colleges to HE. In 2020 I completed a MA AEP in SEN, focusing on dyslexia and ADHD, and enjoy having the opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge I gained from my studies. In 2023, I set up Neurodiversity Matters to provide online and in-person tutoring to neurodivergent students and training for education providers/employers on neuroinclusive practice. I feel that my lived experience of neurodivergence helps me to both identify and understand barriers to achievement, as well as ways in which they can be overcome.
