Georgia Quillan

I am a qualified teacher (QTS) with a degree in English Literature and experience supporting learners from KS1 through to GCSE. I provide personalised tuition in reading, writing, phonics, SPaG, SATs preparation, 11+ entrance examinations and GCSE English.

My lessons are tailored to each pupil’s individual needs, helping them build confidence alongside academic skills. I have extensive experience supporting pupils with SEND, literacy difficulties and anxiety around learning, and believe children make the greatest progress when they feel supported, challenged and capable of success.

Throughout my teaching and tutoring career, I have helped pupils close learning gaps, prepare for important examinations and develop greater confidence in reading, writing and communication. My aim is to create engaging lessons that encourage pupils to think independently, enjoy learning and achieve their full potential.

Alongside classroom teaching, I have worked with pupils in one-to-one and small-group settings, adapting learning to suit a wide range of abilities and learning styles. My experience includes supporting children preparing for entrance examinations, helping pupils improve reading comprehension and writing skills, and working with learners who have faced barriers to education. I place great importance on building positive relationships with pupils and families, ensuring that learning is purposeful, supportive and responsive to individual needs. By combining high expectations with patience and encouragement, I help learners develop the skills, resilience and self-belief needed to succeed both in education and beyond. Some of the most rewarding aspects of my work have been helping pupils overcome barriers that once seemed overwhelming. I have supported children preparing for SATs, 11+ entrance examinations and GCSE English, helping them develop both the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed. My experience also includes supporting pupils with SEND, speech and language difficulties, and anxiety around learning.

As a tutor, I believe every child deserves an approach that works for them. Some learners benefit from structured step-by-step support, whilst others thrive through discussion, creativity and challenge. I take time to understand each pupil’s strengths, interests and goals so that lessons remain engaging and meaningful.
