Jed Shepherd

I am a passionate and experienced teacher offering tutoring support for UK secondary students in General Science, GCSE Physics, GCSE Chemistry, A Level Chemistry, and Maths up to Year 10.
I have over five years of classroom teaching experience in New Zealand, where I developed a strong track record of helping students build confidence, deepen their understanding, and achieve excellent academic results, particularly with Chemistry in the senior school. I believe that successful tutoring is about more than simply working through a syllabus—it is about identifying where a student is struggling, finding an approach that makes sense to them, and giving them the confidence to tackle problems independently.

I can support Year 9–10 students with general science, as well as provide targeted preparation and support for GCSE Physics and Chemistry. For students progressing further, I also offer A Level Chemistry tutoring. I am additionally happy to help students with Maths up to Year 10, particularly where mathematical skills are needed to support their science learning.

My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and adaptable. I aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes—because these are often the most valuable parts of learning. I can tailor lessons to each student's needs, whether they require help catching up, want to consolidate their understanding, are preparing for exams, or are aiming to achieve the highest possible grades.
