Hi, I'm Jay! I studied Economics at the University of Warwick, graduating with a First Class degree and finishing in the top 5% of my cohort. My dissertation on sustainable growth was selected for presentation at the International Carroll Round Conference in Washington D.C., where I presented my research to the Board of Governors at the Federal Reserve — an experience that really sharpened how I explain complex economic ideas clearly and confidently, which is exactly what I bring into every lesson.

Since graduating, I've worked in financial services — first as a Summer Analyst at J.P. Morgan, and now as an Equity Sales Trader at HSBC — so I don't just teach economics from a textbook, I bring real, current examples from financial markets into lessons to show how the theory actually plays out in practice. Students consistently tell me this makes abstract concepts (supply and demand, monetary policy, macroeconomic models) click in a way that pure theory never quite manages.

My teaching style is structured but conversational. I start by understanding where a student is at — their syllabus, their exam board, and where they're specifically getting stuck — then build lessons around closing those gaps rather than working through generic material. I use a mix of clear explanations, past paper practice, and real-world case studies, and I always leave time for questions, because I've found students learn best when they feel comfortable saying "I don't get this part."

I have tutored students for more than 2 years. I've also led and mentored teams throughout my career, from a 5-person equity research group at university to onboarding and training within teams of 8, so I'm used to adapting how I explain things depending on who I'm working with. Whether you're preparing for GCSE, A-Level, or university-level economics, I'll build a plan tailored to you and your goals.
