My number one priority is to tailor my lessons to what works best for the student. Our first session will generally involve finding out where you are in your learning journey, what kind of approach you prefer, and clarifying the material that you want to focus on. All of this can evolve as we work together and make progress, but having a good place to start is important.

Once that's been established, I will outline a plan of progress for each student for future tutoring sessions to follow. All students are given access to a shared Google Drive, in which I will store all of the resources and work we do together, making it so that you have an easy place to keep everything and never have to worry about misplacing a helpful piece of information.

My lessons are intended to be a dialogue where I help you find your way, not a lecture where I tell you what to think or what texts you need to like. The role of a good tutor is to equip their student with the tools they need to progress, not to try and force them to memorise a thousand individual pieces of information! To that end, I like to give students a lot of control over their own learning. After all, it's your class, not mine.

I've been tutoring online for more than four years now, and before that I completed my teacher training both online and in person, so I have plenty of experience using digital platforms and working in tricky circumstances. Whatever it is you need, I'm sure we'll be able to find a way to make it work.
