During my classes I like to provide students with the tools they need to reach their specific goals of learning English. I try to include a variety of activities that focus on the needs of the students or if necessary, adapt to the individual needs of the student. Working in various schools, universities and institutes has given me the experience to adapt the material to help the student by focusing on his or her strengths as well as learning style. During the class I look for ways to help the student see how his or her knowledge of words or grammar can be applied into everyday situations. By showing the student how he/she can reach his/her goals, I aim to develop not only the skill of using the language but also the confidence to speak and share ideas which he or she may see as extremely important. By creating a friendly environment in the class it can build the students confidence which can have exellent results when it comes to his or her progress. For this reason, I try to promote and encourage the student to develop an autonomus appraoch to his or her language learning. Having spent more than 15 years working with ESL has taught me the value of creating realistic situations for students to learn the language and how to adapt the material of any given lesson into something that will bring the most benefit possible to the student. So my overall goal as an English teacher is to help the student feel that they can do it, they can learn the language, meet their personal goals or even feel confident enough that they can use the language skills that they develop to help them compete in the international job market.
