I'm a GCSE and A-Level English and History tutor with QTS, examiner experience, and experience as a former Head of Department. I also hold a Master’s in Education. I help students understand exactly what examiners are looking for and how to reach the top bands.

In English and History, we focus on building strong essays through clear structure, close analysis of language and ideas, and thoughtful argument. I often use model answers and guided practice to show students step by step how high-level responses are constructed. A key part of the process is learning how to turn good answers into top-band answers through precise analysis and strong organisation.

Lessons are interactive and discussion-based. In a typical session we might analyse an extract together, plan an essay, practise exam questions, or improve a piece of writing. I give clear explanations, targeted feedback, and practical strategies students can use immediately in schoolwork and exams.

I also support students with study skills and executive function. This can include organising revision, planning essays, managing workload, and breaking complex tasks into manageable steps. These skills are especially helpful for GCSE and A-Level students balancing several demanding subjects.

I work with a wide range of students, from those building confidence and structure to high-achieving students aiming for top grades. My aim is always to help students think clearly, write confidently, and approach exams with a strong sense of what to do. Over time, many students see clear improvements in their essay writing, confidence, and exam results.
