I am a fully qualified Science teacher , having taught for the past 16 years in secondary schools. I am also an examiner for both GCSE chemistry and A' level Chemistry which gives me an insight to how students approach exam questions which I can utilise in my tutoring sessions. I have tutored for the past 2 years and find that students value my teaching knowledge and approach to them . I build students confidence up whilst also giving them an insight to the key concepts that they should use.
Whilst tutoring online , I use Zoom and have a vast array of resources to use including power points , worksheets and exam questions to draw from to help explain the concepts being taught.
My approach is to explain the key concepts, using the correct keywords , using questioning to identify any misconceptions and gaps in knowledge. Then once understanding is proven I bring in exam questions and help students in their approach to the questions, as this is often when students struggle to apply their knowledge . I have found that in my tutoring sessions , students are very engaged , and enjoy my tutoring sessions, leaving feeling motivated and having their self confidence boosted . In my group sessions , sizes are limited to groups of 4/5 to maximise group interaction and make students engage. I give personalised feedback to parents after the sessions and tell them what topics we have covered in the tutoring sessions.
