My experience would be 1-1 lessons with personal attention a key factor to adapt to each person and their own needs.
Prefer to use interests in a lead to make the lesson more engaging in order to find a common ground with the student so that they become engaged in the subject matter.
Initial lessons of course would be friendly to allow a level of comfort then to speak about interests like music or hobbies like sport then cinema
this opens the door to discuss French culture.
My aim is to make the lessons interesting so they do not even know they are learning at the same time.
Always important to build a good relationship as this makes it easier to learn new things.
Fun should also be a factor of a lesson using tools like pictures or music or any other objects than can be used as visual aids.
Also sign language is a good tool to encourage them to speak on their own.
Smiling and body language is important to make them feel at ease this will also help them to grown in confidence.
Each lesson would be tailored to student needs allowing for age, background and interests of course.
Then I would also ask them what they hope to achieve from the lessons so we can set goals for them to reach so they can see results.
We will also set goals so they know how to discuss the topics that are important to them or will be useful for them in real life so they can
put this to use.
As I use French for work I can also share this knowledge with them.
If the need certain topics we can explore them so we will learn by doing.
My aim for them will be that they will see the results, grow in confidence and learn to love French.
