I am an experienced musician who has been playing in bands for 10+ years. I've performed in a variety of bands and ensembles and played many different genres. I believe the knowledge I have gained from this is very valuable for teaching and how musicians work, develop and learn. I have also gained teaching experience over this time, both teaching fellow bandmates some songs, to privately tutoring 1-1, which I've been doing for multiple years.
Through teaching, and that I am still a student myself, I've learned that every single person absorbs information differently. There is a lot to gain learning in groups, but 1 on 1 teaching can really help you discover how to learn, and quickly fast track your abilities!
I know what it's like to have non-caring, impatient tutors, and those are the people I have learned the least from in my life. The tutors that stick out for me are the ones that really take the time for you and allow you to grow at your own speed, for this reason, I do not teach with a strict regiment in mind. I believe the students should control the lesson and that the tutor should guide them through their journey.
My lessons are very relaxed and open, giving you the space you need to discover what it is you'd like to learn and listen to.
I also believe most of the progress from teaching is made outside of lessons! Learning the guitar is not a simple task and takes time and patience, but it is incredibly rewarding and an invaluable skill I will cherish, and I know you will too! If you give me the opportunity to teach you, I know you will not regret it!
