My intention when tutoring would be to establish a connection with my tutee in order to understand how they learn best, and then adjust my own teaching style to best fit them. I pride myself on being patient with with the people I tutor and I am willing to explain things as much as needed and go at their pace.

Whilst I like to make lessons specific to those I'm tutoring, in general a lesson might go like this.
• The tutee brings a problem, set of problems, or even just a topic to the lesson
• I make and walk through a similar or relevent problem
• I use the skills we learnt in the example to allow the tutee to solve the initial problem(s).

I would run a lesson this way to ensure that the tutee is not relying on me to solve the presented problems themselves, and is actually learning the skills necessary to complete similar problems in future. The motivation and reasoning behind the mathematics used is much more important to learn than the answers to specific problems, as the skills acquired when doing so allow for further creative reasoning and problem solving skills even outside the bounds of mathematics.

That being said, if you hire me as your tutor or to tutor someone you know, I am here to teach you or them what they want to know, and I am willing to change my own work to provide the best support to the individual that I can.
