My lessons relate biology to real life situations to make it engaging and relatable. I have vast experience in examinations for both AQA and edexcel at GCSE and AQA at A level and have a fantastic understanding of what examiners are looking for and how to maximise your potential and grades. I have a background working in medical research prior to teaching so I have a good understanding of how biology relates to various careers and how the specification is linked to future prospects and everyday science so love to incorporate this into the learning. I also will often relate my lessons to the latest news and current affairs in order to keep the subject engaging and relatable. I have experience working with students from grades 1 to 9 and E to A* so am highly adaptable in my approach and can support my students in reaching their goals whatever their ability. I have over 10 years experience as a biology teacher and over 8 years experience as an examiner. I’ve been working as a tutor privately for over 5 years and have supported a number of students in achieving their goals and most of the time, exceeding their own expectations along the way. My practice is always trauma informed based on my experience working in a pastoral setting. I believe the key to learning effectively is to build positive teacher, student relationships and understanding the student and what their goals and aims are, in order to best support their needs.
