I believe in holding a non-judgemental, collaborative, creative space to allow students to find their own understanding of Literary Critique.
We will approach the text through close reading paired with discussion and creatice exercises, which are both written and non-written.
My goal is to help students develop stronger interpretive, deep reading, analysis and literary criticism skills. I help students break down texts with precise analytic frameworks (themes, language, structure, context, etc). My goal is that students learn these for themselves, to work with their own original perspective.
I like to find what approach works best for each individual and tailor sessions to their individual needs. I work collaboratively but with clear direction and goal setting to help students feel supported without aimlessness. As a mindfulness practitioner and teacher, I can suggest grounding techniques to support embodied calm and attenuated attention if needed.
We can work together on writing under exam conditions or work on your essay, depending on what is needed. I’m comfortable working with GCSE, A-level, and undergraduate material.
My background includes academic training in critical thinking and textual analysis, and I bring that into lessons in a practical, accessible way. Students often find that what initially feels difficult becomes much clearer once we slow it down and approach it step by step.
Overall, my aim is to make students more independent, more confident, and more precise in how they read and write.
