I place a strong emphasis on developing an intuitive understanding of mathematical concepts, helping students move beyond memorising formulas to seeing the logic behind the methods. This approach makes maths feel less like rote learning and more like a rewarding puzzle, where solving problems is both enjoyable and satisfying.

My lessons are flexible and tailored to each student’s needs. When learning completely new material, I often use the textbook as a basis for structuring the session, combining theory with practice so that students both understand the concepts and learn to apply them. Each lesson blends learning new material with immediately applying it through example problems. I aim to make the theoretical part as interactive as possible, resembling a discussion rather than a lecture—a key advantage of the one-to-one tutoring format that is too often underused.

For sessions focused on revision and exam preparation, we work through past paper questions together. I guide students through the problem-solving process and provide help when needed, but I don’t simply give the answers, since true learning comes from thinking through problems independently. Lessons are interactive, engaging, and structured to build confidence, strengthen problem-solving skills, and ensure steady progress. If I notice gaps in a student’s knowledge while working through a question, we temporarily digress to address them—practice on real exam-style questions is, in my view, the most effective way to identify and fill these gaps.
