About My Maths Lessons
My lessons are designed to make maths accessible, engaging, and relevant to your goals—whether you're building confidence with fundamentals, preparing for exams, or tackling advanced topics.
Lesson Format:
Each session typically begins with a brief review of previous concepts, followed by introducing new material through clear explanations and worked examples. We then move into guided practice where you'll solve problems with my support, and finish with independent exercises to reinforce your understanding. I adapt the pace to match your learning style and needs.
Teaching Approach:
I believe maths makes sense when you understand the "why" behind the formulae. I break down complex concepts into manageable steps, use real-world examples to show practical applications, and encourage questions at every stage. My goal is to build not just your skills, but your confidence and problem-solving abilities.
Content & Dynamics:
Lessons are interactive and tailored to your specific curriculum or goals. We'll work through a mix of theory, practice problems, and exam-style questions. I provide additional resources, practice materials, and homework when helpful. I also focus on exam techniques and common pitfalls to help you maximise your performance.
My Experience:
I'm currently completing my GCSEs at Dixie Grammar School, including Maths and Further Maths. I have a strong track record in mathematics, having won five consecutive Maths Year Group Awards and represented my school at the Aston University Maths Challenge, where we placed 7th out of 15 schools. I've also achieved multiple UKMT Maths Challenge awards, including Gold with qualification to the second round where I earned Silver.
Beyond my own studies, I have experience supporting younger pupils through German drop-in sessions and serving as a buddy mentor for new students. I've also volunteered as a guide at every school open morning for five years, which has developed my communication skills and ability to explain concepts clearly to different audiences.
I understand the challenges students face because I've navigated them myself, and I'm passionate about helping others build both their mathematical skills and their confidence in the subject.
I'm committed to creating a supportive, patient learning environment where mistakes are part of the process and every question is valued.
