Ishbel Rose

As a consultant tutor with the Lifelong Learning Team at Dumfries Council, I currently work delivering early years and primary programmes to ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) groups and mainstream schools. This includes working directly with ESOL families, helping consolidate language acquisition through play. I recently qualified to teach TEFL too, and I am extremely excited to start my journey teaching English as an additional language to all ages. When my children were younger, I worked online as an English and drama tutor, supporting students across the key stages – primary to A-level. I am also a fully qualified and experienced teacher of English and drama (PGCE) and, prior to having my own children, I taught in mainstream, UK schools between 2007 and 2017: I am well-placed to offer meaningful and relevant support to students. As a trained actor (PgDip) and theatre maker (MA), I am used to building relationships with people quickly and fostering a supportive and inspiring working atmosphere.
