I am currently in my third year studying Ancient History & History at the University of Manchester, working towards a First-Class Honours degree. Throughout my studies, I have developed a strong interest in understanding the political, economic, and social factors that have shaped different societies throughout history, as well as the role of international relations, ideology, and culture in historical developments.
My lessons are tailored to each student's needs, interests, and academic level. Whether you're preparing for an examination, struggling with a particular historical period, looking to improve your essay writing, or simply interested in learning more about history, I am happy to help.
I have studied a wide range of historical periods, from Ancient Greece and the Roman Republic and Empire to Medieval Europe, the Enlightenment, the French Revolution, and Modern European and Chinese History. I am comfortable teaching political, social, economic, and cultural history, as well as exploring how these different aspects interact with one another.
My main area of interest and specialisation is interwar European history, particularly Fascist Italy, Nazi Germany, and the development of fascist ideology. I am currently writing my 10,000-word undergraduate dissertation on the Romanian Legionary Movement, examining how its leader, Corneliu Zelea Codreanu, understood the creation of the fascist "New Man" as essential to Romania's national rebirth between 1927 and 1938. This research has allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of political ideologies, nationalism, propaganda, religion, and the relationship between individuals and the state.
I like to keep my lessons relaxed and conversational, encouraging students to ask questions, express their opinions, and engage with different historical interpretations. Depending on the student's goals, lessons may involve analysing primary sources, discussing historical debates, examining the causes and consequences of events, or working through essay questions.
I also place considerable importance on developing analytical and argumentative skills, particularly when it comes to structuring essays, evaluating evidence, and constructing convincing historical arguments.
Above all, I hope to share my enthusiasm for history and help students develop their own understanding and interest in the subject.
