Maths doesn't have to be scary. I've seen the proof.
I've been working with students across the Leeds area for a while now, and the story I hear most often is the same: "I've never been good at Maths." But here's what I've noticed — it's rarely about ability. It's almost always about gaps in the basics that were never properly filled.

I've been working with students across the Leeds area for a while now, and the story I hear most often is the same: "I've never been good at Maths." But here's what I've noticed — it's rarely about ability. It's almost always about gaps in the basics that were never properly filled.
Most of my students come to me sitting at a Grade 3 or less. Many of them have already tried to keep up in class and felt left behind. I've helped students in those exact situations move up to a Grade 4 and beyond — not by drilling past papers endlessly, but by going back to where the confusion actually started and fixing it there first.
What my lessons actually look like:
We start with a relaxed, no-pressure chat to figure out where the gaps are — no test, no judgment
Lessons are conversational, not lecture-style; I want students to think out loud, not just copy methods
Every session balances building a missing foundation and moving forward on current school topics — so students never feel like they're going backwards
I use real examples that make sense, not just textbook problems
Progress is visible — students and parents can see exactly what's been covered and what's improved
For parents: I know you're not just looking for someone who can do Maths. You're looking for someone your child will actually listen to and trust. I take the time to understand how each student thinks, what knocks their confidence, and what makes things click for them. I keep parents updated regularly so you always know where your child stands.
For students: I'm not here to judge how you got here. I'm here to help you get where you want to go. You'll leave sessions feeling like Maths is something you can do.
