My lessons are structured around what you’re actually struggling with, not a generic script. We’ll usually start by going through your notes, past papers, or specific topics you’re finding tough to spot exactly where the gaps are. From there, we work through the content properly until it genuinely clicks, using clear examples and real exam-style questions to make sure it sticks rather than just being memorised for a week and forgotten.
A big part of my approach is exam technique, since that’s often where marks are lost even when the knowledge is there. We’ll cover how to structure your answers properly, what examiners are actually looking for at each grade boundary, and how to apply what you know to unfamiliar or twisted questions rather than just reciting facts you’ve learned by rote. I find this is usually the difference between students who know the content but underperform, and those who consistently hit their target grade.
I know the syllabus and mark scheme inside out for [GCSE English Language and Literature, having achieved a grade 9 in both, including 186/196 in Literature / A Level Sociology, having just achieved an A*], and I remember exactly what tripped me up along the way, which means I can help you avoid making the same mistakes.
Lessons are relaxed, patient, and genuinely two way; I’ll regularly check you’re actually following rather than just talking at you for an hour. I’m happy to adjust pace and focus depending on whether you’re aiming to consolidate a grade you already have or push for a top one!
