Although I have no professional qualifications or experience in tutoring, I have immersed myself multiple times in teaching primary schools, both online math lessons and as a teaching assistant for a Year 2 class. From these, I learnt the values of being adaptable during sessions in order to tailor my methods of teaching to fit each individual student so it fits their learning most effectively. Even without experience, I'm confident enough to describe myself as a bubbly and fun character who likes to take a more nurturing approach to tutoring to build enthusiasm and make the students want to achieve great things and push themselves.
We would look at grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, speaking, and in higher levels looking more into listening, reading and writing skills. I would make the sessions extremely interactive to allow them to participate ideas and immerse themselves in learning. In higher levels, I would integrate casual conversations each session to build up their confidence for speaking and in future oral exams, as this is often a very daunting aspect of language exams.
If I feel as though a student is not engaging with a particular session, I will always have back up activities or exercises to do instead, as the want to learn is very important and it's such a fun subject to learn so I want them to enjoy themselves too!
