I have previously taught as a peer tutor to those in my class helping people get from Us to Bs at A Level and 3s to 7s at GCSE. I mainly teach by using and explaining exam questions to allow students to understand the concepts being taught while also understanding how they will be examined in a formal setting. This works quite efficiently as it allows the students to work through past papers meaning they understand the layout of exams while also learning the content by eventually memorising previous exam papers.
Another method I use is trying to translate content into concepts the student will understand, often likening content to pieces of media they may enjoy. I have previously done this with bands and movies to allow those im teaching to connect more to what I am saying allowing these methods to stick in their mind allowing them to actually understand and memorise the content needed for exams.
To allow students to connect more to not only the work but also me who will be teaching them I plan on truing to make the work engaging by showing them exactly what they need to know in ways that are curated for each individual student.
As a person who aspires for a computer science related future, I think formal tutoring will be a valuable experience for me to develop my interest in this subject further. I have a deep passion for Computer Science and I want to share that passion amongst others.
