Hello!

My lessons would be entirely modelled around you and your style and ability, going from the selection of drawing subject to the capturing of this on paper (or whatever medium you might prefer!)

I am a practicing Artist and Architect, and have been selling my artwork for over 25 years. I would aim to ensure that lessons are enjoyable and that you are always very relaxed and not feeling rushed or under pressure.

During my A-level and GCSE art lessons, I remember getting lots of satisfaction out of running round the classroom and helping other students with their work - always greatly encouraging a loose and expressive approach in my colleagues, and with good results!

If the subject matter is Architectural, I would certainly offer an architectural perspective and commentary on what we are drawing, it's composition and it's architectural characteristics. I am perfectly happy to train the general observational drawing skills in any subject matter, however - It is very important to me that you are relaxed and happy in what you are doing - a period of relaxed and free-flowing 'loose' mark-making may be an approach that would be an excellent 'warm-up exercise' - I will watch you work and see what approach would be most beneficial.

I will also actively encourage the most relaxed and free flowing expression of what you see into what marks you make on the paper - it needn't always be incredibly technical - art is very uniquely personal and free, and I will always respect this.

I would very much love to hear from you, and start to encourage your creative flair and expression.

Henry Bird amongst many things is a competent architect and a beautiful artist. His artistic background adds a layer of creativity to his hands-on approach to architecture. Above all, he values his client relationships most and will go above and beyond to meet their needs. He is particularly passionate about sustainability and conservation, which means that in his own way he can help you reduce your own carbon footprints and protect existing assets. I would highly recommend working with Henry.
