I have studied mathematics my whole life. I offer A level and lower tutoring for maths and other stem subjects. I teach in a way that fosters curiosity which makes learning and understanding easier and instead of teaching a method straight away i believe it is important to create a bigger picture understanding of everything that i teach and its applications to the real world. Knowing this can make it more interesting and logical as to why concepts work as they do and why they are being taught in the first place - it shows importance of the knowledge and this is what makes information meaningful enough yo be remember by our brain. Aside from the main idea when teaching i offer tutoring in small groups and one on one sessions. So that i can interact with each student and ensure that the learning is not passive so the students can benefit from my service. I also give work to do outside of sessions to ensure progress is consistent. I specialise in pure maths and applied maths for gcse and a level students. The lessons will start off with a warm up (if there was a lesson before then this will be a recap and knowledge check from the last lesson) which will consist of a few questions that will test knowledge and processes that were taught before or just some helpful skills that will be useful and lead onto what the lesson will be about. The rest of the lesson will be interactive teaching and testing that will be focused more on discussion of why concepts work and how they work and near then end there will be some testing in the form of questions and i encourage students to ask lots of difficult questions to ensure they learn from different angles and help them form different relationships. this is the framework for stem subjects such as maths, further maths, physics etc. I also use this for economics a level.
