My lessons are structured, focused, and designed to build confidence step by step. I believe that success in maths comes from fully understanding the method behind each topic and then reinforcing it through consistent, targeted practice. For topics students find challenging, I focus on identifying exactly where the confusion begins and rebuilding understanding from that point. Often, difficulties in maths come from a small gap in understanding - once that gap is addressed clearly, the rest becomes much more manageable. Each lesson typically follows a clear format:
Review and recap of previous material to strengthen retention
Step-by-step explanation of the topic, breaking down methods into more manageable steps
Worked examples where I model how to approach different types of questions
Guided practice, where students attempt questions with support
Independent exam-style practice to build confidence and exam technique
For GCSE and A-Level students, I also place strong emphasis on exam preparation. This includes understanding how mark schemes work, recognising common question patterns and developing structured answers that maximise marks. I encourage students to ask questions and work through mistakes openly. My teaching style is patient and adaptable - I adjust the pace depending on the student’s needs and ensure they feel comfortable tackling challenging problems.
My aim is not only to help students achieve higher grades, but also to help them feel more confident and capable in maths - and perhaps even enjoy it. With consistent effort and the right guidance, I am confident that every student can make clear and measurable progress.
