I like to plan a lesson based around the student’s specific needs.
The basic plan is a 1 hour lesson split into two, with two topics covered and this change in pace helps focus.
I like to end with some practice, but it is in no way testing and I will never do it if the student feels anxious about the prospect because it is their time!
I will set homework if it is requested, and I suggest things...

I will set homework if it is requested, and I suggest things the student can do as extra practice, which I will happily look at to give feedback for, but it won’t be a requirement.
I like to have some time at the start to check in with school work progress and see what is being done, which I can use to assess any changes to the lesson to cover alternative information, or address a weak point that has been raised.
