I am a highly flexible educator, and adapt my lessons to suit my students' needs. This can include lecture, lesson review, step-by-step homework help, and research and writing editing of ideas and content. A session with a student includes a discussion of what they need, a recap of relevant teaching to asses comprehension, a detailed review of lessons and assignments, and consists primarily of close work on assignments and research to identify and solve problems as they arise.
I have worked in many teaching spaces; classical school education, teaching assistant work, and private tutoring. I have an MA in Theological Studies and a BA in English Literature, so I'm qualified to assist students in a variety of subjects. I also worked as a journalist for several years, and was a supervising editor for young freelancers hoping to develop their work. I also have experience working with neurodivergent students, and as a neurodivergent person myself I have great empathy for special-needs learners and am committed to helping these students get everything they need to thrive and grow.
I'm a patient, detail-oriented teacher, and enjoy helping students understand complicated topics and create strong, original research and writing based on what they learn. My pricing for tutoring is somewhat flexible, and I'm willing to work with students to figure out the best balance of time, cost, assistance, and outcome.
I'm from the United States and am the child of immigrants, so I have a holistic appreciation for the nuances of culture and its impact on different learners.
