Hannah Bullimore

My lessons are fun and varied. They focus on incorporating the real world and a range of interests into the exam specification. While I am used to focusing on results as a class teacher, I also want to ensure that my students enjoy learning with me.
Most of my sessions follow a similar overall structure with shorter tasks building up to a main task. I focus on the main skills needed in the English Language GCSE: Reading, Analysing Language and Structure, Evaluating a text, Writing Creatively, Spelling and Punctuation. But within these skills lessons could focus on a wide range of themes and genres; from the latest world news to a popular TV show.

I have taught GCSE English Language and Functional Skills English for the last three years and have a PGCE English specialism. I have worked with learners who are struggling to attain a grade 4 and students who are pushing for higher grades. I have also taught adults English, working for an education charity and teaching English Language and Literature.

Before going into teaching I have worked in higher education as a personal tutor and as a freelance writer. I have a BA in English Literature and History and an MA in Creative Writing. I am passionate about my subject and the importance of reading and writing for all areas of life but most importantly I am focused on my students and the importance of showing them the joy and importance of education for whatever ambitions they have for the future.
