I am very adaptable and flexible in my teaching! I teach Violin, Piano and Music Theory to all ages from children to adults and teach a wide range of genres from classical to pop with many in between. I go with a student led approach to teaching, meaning we base the lessons upon what it is the student wants to learn or achieve. For example, some students prefer ABRSM exam routes, some prefer to just learn the basics, some prefer to learn for fun, it is entirely up to you!
My core values as an instrumental teacher are creativity, patience and motivation. I believe it is important to encourage students to be independent in their learning so that they can develop their own creative ideas and truly understand music. This is achieved through patience with my students, by letting them learn and explore the instrument at their own pace, while also gently pushing them out of their comfort zone to develop as a musician. I ensure the lessons are fun, useful and engaging to make sure the student feels confident and are enjoying the experience of their learning, meaning they can stay motivated, a key element to learning music!
I aim to create a positive learning environment where the student can develop a range of skills such as notation reading, aural skills, alongside skills such as improvisation if they wish, and many more. These are achieved through demonstrations, explanations and many practical activities! I am always aiming to develop my teaching skills so am eager to try new things, step outside of my comfort zone and be creative!
