My lessons are calm, structured and tailored to each individual student rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. We usually begin by looking at a piece of your work or a task you’re finding difficult and breaking it down together. I help you understand what the question is really asking, how to organise your thoughts, and how to turn your ideas into clear, well-structured writing.

In a typical lesson we might plan an essay from scratch, rewrite and improve a paragraph, or go through feedback from your teacher and turn it into practical, achievable next steps. I often write alongside students so you can see how to build arguments and structure sentences in real time, then gradually hand more over to you as your confidence grows.

My focus is on teaching transferable skills rather than just fixing one assignment. I explain why certain structures and techniques work, show you reliable methods for planning and editing, and help you develop your own voice and independence. Over time, the aim is that you need less and less help because you know how to approach new tasks yourself.

Alongside tutoring, I work in a professional role that involves high-level writing, research and editing every day. I regularly turn complex information into clear, persuasive documents and support colleagues to strengthen their own writing. That experience means I’m very comfortable helping with essays, coursework, personal statements and any kind of analytical or reflective writing.

My teaching style is patient, encouraging and practical. If you feel stuck or overwhelmed, we slow things down and find a simpler way into the task. If you’re already doing well, we focus on refining and pushing your work to the next level. You’ll always leave a session with a clearer plan, specific improvements you can make, and a better understanding of how to tackle your next piece of work with confidence.
