Hello, I'm Grace, a second year physics student at Durham University. My lessons are different for every student. I use an online whiteboard to set up a lesson in advanced of the booked time, usually containing lots of diagrams and helpful tips. We usually spend the first 10 to 20 minutes going through the content, then spend some time answering the students questions. Then we do a practice question together and then I give the student an exam question to do by themselves. I encourage the students to always try to answer the questions, and let them know making mistakes is okay, and beneficial for them to learn. I try to form a personal connection with my students so they understand the tutoring space is a safe space for them to make mistakes. The above lesson outline will be different for each student, some students like doing more questions by themselves, and others need more focus on learning the content rather than the application to the questions. I am a friendly tutor who has been through all the exams my students undertake, which makes me relatable, and I see how much progress students make when they realise it is okay to make mistakes in front of me and I am here to help, and from their mistakes they learn quickly. I am very passionate about the subjects I teach and I put a lot of effort into my lessons as I enjoy teaching my favourite subjects to students and seeing them enjoy learning it.
