My lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s needs. I usually begin by identifying the specific topics a student wants to focus on, whether that’s a current class topic, revision for mocks, or exam preparation. We’ll start with a quick recap to check understanding, then work through concepts step by step, building from the foundations upwards.
A big part of my teaching style is explaining ideas in simple, clear stages. I break down complex problems into manageable steps and focus on the “why” behind each method, not just memorising formulas. I often model a question first, thinking aloud so students can see the reasoning process, then guide them through similar examples before letting them try independently. This helps build both understanding and problem-solving skills.
Having studied Maths and Further Maths at A-Level and now completing a Master’s in Physics at the University of Warwick, as well as teaching in a secondary school, I understand both the academic depth of the subject and the exam pressures students face.
Most importantly, my aim is to improve confidence. As exams approach, we’ll practise exam-style questions, timing, and technique so students feel prepared, calm, and capable walking into the exam hall.
