I pride myself on my positive approach to English language teaching. No matter what skill level a student is, I always take the time to offer encouragement and recognize improvements and achievements. The content of my lessons will always be matched to the needs of my students, making all learning relevant, achievable and enjoyable. Naturally, when learning a new language there will be times when a student makes errors. My philosophy is that mistakes are not something to feel guilt or shame about, but actually an important tool to help us learn.

For beginner students, lessons will focus on building up a solid foundation of vocabulary, applying it to specific grammar points accurately and consistently. Embedded into vocabulary practice will be targeted practice of English phonics. Some sounds in the English language can be tricky for speakers of other languages, so these sounds need to be practiced discretely in order for spoken English to be comprehensible. Phonics practice can easily be a frustrating part of language learning for some students, but with my experience I aim to make it a fun enjoyable experience.
My aim is to get my beginner students to a point where they can comprehend most common grammar points and can identify the fundamental differences in meaning between them. This will provide a solid foundation to build on in the future.

For more advanced students, lessons will focus more on oral fluency and reading comprehension. Lessons may focus on a single topic or reading, where students will develop their knowledge of the topic and apply their skills to discuss issues, solve problems and express their opinions.
My aim is to develop my student's confidence discussing with a native English speaker on a variety of common conversation topics, focusing on expressing their own opinion in English.

I try my best to incorporate a variety of methods in my lessons, such as games, quizzes and role-plays, alongside more formal methods such as grammar exercises and comprehension questions.
