Learning should be personal, purposeful and engaging.
With over 13 years of teaching and tutoring experience, my approach has evolved through working with learners with different ages, personalities, abilities, learning gaps and educational goals. I have learned that effective teaching is not simply about knowing a subject—it is about understanding how a particular learner learns best and creating the right conditions for them to succeed.
My lessons are therefore learner-centred, interactive and carefully differentiated. I do not believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Some learners need more visual support, repetition and smaller steps; others thrive when challenged through questioning, discussion and independent problem-solving. I adjust the pace, resources, level of support and activities according to the learner in front of me.
For younger learners, I make learning active and enjoyable through phonics, games, stories, visual resources, word-building activities, manipulatives and practical examples. For older or more advanced learners, I use questioning, guided discussion, application tasks and targeted practice to develop deeper understanding rather than simple memorisation.
I have also worked with homeschoolers and learners with additional learning needs, where patience, structure, consistency and careful observation are particularly important. My focus is not just on completing a lesson, but on helping learners become increasingly confident, independent and willing to attempt challenging tasks. I celebrate progress while also identifying areas that need further support.
In my online sessions, students are encouraged to participate, think aloud, ask questions, make mistakes, self-correct and try again. I use technology and digital resources purposefully, ensuring that online learning remains interactive rather than becoming passive screen time.
Whether a learner needs to strengthen foundational literacy, improve reading and comprehension, develop mathematical understanding, catch up on missed concepts, prepare for the UK/Cambridge-style curriculum, or simply regain confidence in learning, I tailor each session to their individual starting point and goals.
My aim is simple: to make every learner feel capable of learning—and then give them the tools, strategies and confidence to prove it.
