My lessons are designed to be practical, supportive and adapted to the individual student rather than following exactly the same format every time. I like to start by understanding why the student wants to learn Italian, what level they are currently at, and which areas they would like to improve. From there, I can tailor the lessons around conversation, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading, listening or writing.
For beginners, I would focus on building a strong foundation through useful everyday language, simple sentence structures, essential vocabulary and basic grammar. For intermediate learners, I would introduce more natural conversation, more complex grammar and a wider range of topics, with the aim of helping the student become more confident and independent.
A typical lesson may include a short conversation, explanation of a new topic, practical exercises and time to review any difficulties. I also like to use real-life situations, for example ordering food, travelling, introducing yourself, speaking at work or discussing everyday interests. This helps make the language easier to remember and more useful outside the lesson.
My teaching style is patient and encouraging. I believe students learn better when they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, so I try to create a relaxed environment while still providing clear structure and regular feedback.
I have previous experience providing one-to-one online tutoring in Business and Finance and currently work in Higher Education supporting students with their academic development. I am also TEFL certified and have completed additional teacher training focused on speaking and writing assessment. As a native Italian speaker, I can also help students understand natural expressions, pronunciation and the way Italian is actually used in everyday situations.
