Genevieve Edsell

Hi, my name is Genevieve, and I am a student at Birmingham University studying English language and Linguistics.

My lessons are interactive, structured, and tailored to each student. As sessions are conducted online, I will use tools such as shared documents, screen sharing, and collaborative annotations to create an engaging and supportive learning environment. I begin by understanding each student’s goals—whether that’s improving essay writing, preparing for exams, analysing literature, or just building your confidence in English. From this, I can then develop a personalised approach to suit their needs.

With a background in English Language and Linguistics and a TEFL qualification, I place strong emphasis on both accuracy and confidence. My lessons aim not only to improve grades but also to build long-term skills in analysis, writing, and independent thinking. I am also still a student myself to be able to provide a personal and empathetic approach to learning, as I know how frustrating and challenging education can be.

Alongside my academic experience, my professional background in client-facing roles has strengthened my communication and adaptability, allowing me to create a positive, encouraging space where students feel comfortable asking questions and actively participating, no matter who they are or where they come from. My lessons are a safe space.
